If you are
already in Tilcara, visit the caves of Wayra will make you feel great.
Waira means
wind and is the name they bear these caves formed by the erosion of time
(especially wind and rain). These caves are located west of Tilcara, to the
ravine Sarahuaico. We recommend going with a guide, which can be rented at the
tourist office Tilcara. There are two caves, one of which is a tunnel that is
50 meters deep in the ground where you have to climb and turn, illuminated by
lanterns and candles. The hike is normal difficulty, except for the last party
whose slope is steep, and you have to have the flexibility to go to the caves. Lasts
4 hours roundtrip, with intermediate breaks
to admire the scenery walk.
